A selection of renown UK woodcarver Chris Pye’s contributions to Woodcarving magazine has been assembled for this book. The articles cover all facets of woodcarving from tool selection and use through to simple and advanced carving projects. Architectural carving in the form of pineapple finials and lion brackets is discussed, along with moulding (waterleaf, acanthus and guilloche) and lettering (perfect prose, decorative house sign, etc). Accompanied by photos and detailed instructions, the carving projects include an eagle, a meditating figure and the phoenix rising pictured on the cover.
