Hall has sold over 4000 works of intarsia, the craft of creating
three-dimensional pictures from small pieces of wood using the wood's
natural color and texture in the design. After a short introduction to
the craft, he provides readers with 20 projects including animals,
birds, holiday motifs, clocks, a motorcycle, and a necktie. His
instructions are easy to follow, and the book itself is unusually
attractive. The short sections on safety and on pricing one's work are
particularly well done. This excellent, accessible book will appeal to
both beginning and experienced woodworkers.
