Teri Masaschi’s book is billed as being written for those who hate the process of finishing. This final stage of creation is the one that can ruin all that has gone before so it’s a matter of either learning how or getting someone else to do it. Six comprehensive and well illustrated chapters cover preparation, grain filling, matching and colouring, ‘topcoating’, repair and restoration. There’s a gallery of work well done, and some of the author’s colour matching recipes. US-written though it does tend to focus on northern hemisphere species and sensibilities
