For the money this book is a worthwhile investment into one of woodwork’s thorniest subjects: making chairs that look good, feel good to sit in, and are strong enough to survive. The basics of chair ergonomics are covered, as is arranging grain according to components. After a gallery presentation of other people’s great work it’s reality check time as Miller outlines the basics of joinery and component shaping. There are seven detailed projects, make them all and you’ll be well on your way to chair mastery. Even if you make only one or two you’ll certainly be the wiser. The reason this book is a 2nd edition is because it’s sold well for over ten years.
