John Bullar’s book aims to give you the no-bull or ‘jargon-free’ basics
of woodwork and to this end he largely succeeds. Pared back text and
very good in-focus detail shots of marking, measuring, and joint
cutting get the message across. There is also introductory info on
timber selection, hand tool and machinery usage. Ten graded
step-by-step projects allow you to practise the basic techniques
discussed, although the look of most items could do with some refining.
A good self-teaching book that is all about techniques and using tools
for best results. UK-written the book is all-metric.
