Blanket chests tick several boxes of appeal for the woodworker. Large scale enough to involve some serious joint making, they offer great scope for beautiful wood and design. This collection provides a wide range of styles and surprisingly diverse constructions. Exposed and concealed joints; straight, tapered, rounded and curved segments; along with panels, mouldings, carvings and detailing create a lot of interest. Each design has its influences detailed. Measured drawings show construction and focus is given to critical elements and techniques. Most of the thirty makers featured are North American, but one is from Australia, AWR's contributing editor Richard Vaughan, whose Tassie myrtle 'chest of blankets' is included.
