| Description: |
First published in the UK in 1969 and reprinted 12 times, most recently in 2002, What wood is that? is a classic wood identification book. Apart from its 14-key system of identifying wood (colour, rings, pores, hardness, weight, etc) it provides detailed descriptions of 40 trees and their timbers. But what sets this book apart are the 40 actual wood samples that come with it, each 75 x 22 x 0.6mm thick. The samples include Brazilian rosewood, bird's eye maple and ebony, and are good quality and typical of their timbers. Qld walnut and eucalyptus (Tas oak) are the local representatives.
